NBC and FullTiltPoker.net have created a new poker television show called Face The Ace which puts online qualifiers against poker pros. Full Tilt Poker is offering the qualifiers at their online poker room for players to try their luck and possibly get on the show.
Each contestant has the chance to face up to three different poker pros in head to head competition with the possibility to walk away with $1 million if they last the entire time. The show will begin filming on July 9th in Las Vegas and begin airing on NBC on August 1st.
The show was first announced this past April and was described as part game show part reality show. The new show will be hosted by Steve Schirripa, of Sopranos fame, and will see several poker pros, or ‘Aces’ as they are called on the show. Those included are: Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harmon, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Phil Gordon, Allen Cunningham, John Juanda, Mike Matusow, Andy Bloch, Gus Hansen and Patrik Antonius.
The show will begin with the online qualifier facing four smoked glass doors. Behind each door is an ‘Ace’ and the qualifier gets to choose which door they want to face. If the player beats the ‘Ace’ then they can take the money they earned or they can face another ‘Ace’. If the online qualifier wins all three matchups and risks the money each time they will win one million dollars.
Players can participate in the qualifying rounds at Full Tilt Poker to win their seat on the show. Players must first win Round 1 free roll and then move on to round 2. Round 2 winners earn an entry to a Face The Ace final qualifier tournament. The top ten finishers in each final qualifier tournament will win a free prize package which includes a trip to Las Vegas to audition for Face The Ace.
