UltimateBet Offering Steps Tournaments to Aruba Poker Classic
The eighth annual Aruba Poker Classic is set to begin this October and UltimateBet is giving their players a chance to earn a seat at their annual event by offering special steps tournaments. The step tournaments give players a chance to buy-in to a tournament for next to nothing and work their way to the top tournament for a chance to win a seat to the Aruba Poker Classic.
The Aruba Poker Classic is offering a $10 million prize to any player who is able to qualify via a $.10 step tournament and win the Aruba Poker Classic. This means that if your average poker player earns a seat to the Classic via the steps tournaments and wins the Classic, dominating over pros and other players, that person will earn $10 million from UltimateBet.
UltimateBet is offering this special prize to their members in celebration of their tenth anniversary of operation. Players who compete in the ten cent steps tournaments and work their way to win a package will earn an $8,500 Aruba Poker Classic prize package. The package includes the $5,500 Main event buy-in and $3,000 for travel and accommodation expenses.
Really think about it for a second. If you earn a seat this way you could win $10 million. If you earn your seat elsewhere or buy-in directly you could still win but it will be nowhere near $10 million. Players still have about nine weeks to compete in the steps tournaments. The Classic will take place from the 3rd to the 10th of October at the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino and Spa and you could be enjoying the surroundings and rubbing elbows with the top names in poker as you compete for your shot at $10 million.

Rocker to Host Online Home Game on UltimateBet in August

Scott Ian, best known for being the rhythm guitarist for heavy metal group Anthrax, is an avid poker player.  So much so, if Scot is not working on music then he is online at UltimateBet working on his poker skills.  Scott has hosted an online “home game” at UltimateBet once before and now has announced he will be holding his second “home game” this august.

Scott has announced that an Aruba Poker Classic package will be up for grabs for the winner of the online “home game” so more players are expected to try for a seat to the rocker’s event. Scott also mentioned how supportive the UB players were for his first home game.

The tournament will have eighteen players with eleven seats available for online players. The other seats will be taken by Scott, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, Vinnie Paul of Pantera,, Greg Tribbett of Mudvayne as well as Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke of UltimateBet.

An exclusive qualifying tournament will take place on the 18th of August and will have an entry fee of 10,000 UltimatePoints. But if players do not have that many points they can enter in daily multi-table tournaments that have buy-ins as low as 1,000 UltimatePoints.

The UltimateBet “home game” will take place on August 19th at 9:30pm and Annie Duke will be hoping to defend her title as champion as she won the first home game back in March. Scott finished in eighth place so he will be working to stay in longer this go round. It should be very interesting to see which type of player will earn the win this time. Will it be a rocker, poker pro or online player who earns the first place finish?

UltimateBet Offering Fifty Seats to 2009 WSOP

We all know that online poker rooms are steadily offering seats to the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event as well as other bracelet events. Several poker sites have seats to give out that will hopefully see players do very well and end up in the money. But what you may not know is that one online poker room is offering fifty seats to the Main Event.

UltimateBet.com is the online poker room offering the amazing fifty seat offer. UltimateBet will be holding a World Series of Poker 50 Package Satellite on June 21st where fifty lucky online players will earn a seat to the 2009 WSOP Main Event.

The 50 packages are worth $12,000 which equals $10,000 for the seat and $2,000 in spending money which can be used to pay for hotel accommodations or whatever the winner would like. The top fifty finishers of the WSOP 50 package Satellite will be guaranteed a seat to the WSOP Main Event. This means that no matter where you place, as long as it is in 1st through 50th you will be going to the 2009 WSOP Main Event.

UltimateBet is offering these seats to their players as a way of celebrating two large milestones. The first is the 10th anniversary of the UltimateBet online poker room and the second is the twentieth anniversary of Phil Hellmuths, spokesman for UltimateBet, win at the WSOP, when he became the youngest player ever to win the Main Event. Of course that was until Peter Eastgate won the event last year.

Another great aspect of the satellite package is that if one of the fifty players who are awarded a seat actually wins the tournament they will earn a cool $10 million bonus from UltimateBet. Let’s hope one of the qualifiers can win the event!

2009 WSOP Qualifiers Continue At UltimateBet

As summer quickly approaches, so does the start 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Internet poker rooms are rushing to install poker satellites and Qualifiers with massive prize packages to the world’s most prestigious live poker event, but none quite like that of UltimateBet.

UltimateBet.com has been running WSOP Qualifiers for two weeks already, and online poker players will be more than pleased to know that for as little as $0.10, they could win their way into a seat at the Las Vegas Rio All-suite Hotel & Casino to take part in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.

Winning your way through a series of these Steps Qualifiers at UltimateBet could put you in the shoes of Peter Eastgate, the young Dane who walked away with $9.1 million as the 2008 WSOP Main Event champion, taking over Phil Hellmuth’s previous record as the youngest poker player to emerge the ultimate victor.

UltimateBet, along with sister-site Absolute Poker, which make up the CEREUS Poker Network, will be running WSOP Steps Qualifiers up until the 2009 WSOP, awarding prize packages that cover the $10,000 WSOP Main Event buy-in, as well as travel and accommodation expenses and spending cash.

The WSOP Steps Satellites consist of a series of 10 Sit’N'Go Tournaments. Players must win each Step of their Sit’N'Go challenges to move on to the next round and work their way into a seat at the 2009 WSOP. But for an investment of $0.10, who wouldn’t want to take a shot at such an opportunity?

It is possible to buy into any stage of the Steps Satellites at UltimateBet, rather than working your way through all 10 Sit’N'Go competitions. However, there are extra incentives to whittle your way through all 10 steps.

The first 10 players to win a seat through UltimateBet’s WSOP Steps Satellites will receive an additional $7,500 prize package to the UltimateBet Aruba Poker Classic.

Also, any player who wins a seat in the 2009 WSOP Main Event by taking down a 10-Step series, then goes on to win the WSOP championship title, will win a $10 million pro poker contract from UltimateBet. With nearly $10 million awarded for winning the WSOP, this could potentially double the champion’s profit margin to $20 million.

“Step tournaments will see UB qualifying record numbers of online players for this year’s WSOP,” says UltimateBet’s tournament designer and professional poker player Annie Duke. “With our $10 million player contract on the table, we’re excited about the prospect of discovering poker’s next big thing.”

With 2009 just around the corner, that can mean just one thing for online poker players at UltimateBetPoker – the Million-Dollar UltimateBet Online Championship (UBOC) series is almost here! Set to kick off Friday, January 9th, there are already 100 lucky online poker players ready to take their seats after being awarded free entry to the UBOC last weekend.

Last Saturday, UltimateBet awarded 100 of its most skill members with seats in the upcoming UBOC online poker series, featuring 22 guaranteed events over 10 days. UltimateBetPoker.com will be awarding a minimum of $3 million in guaranteed prize pools, including two $1,000,000 guarantees throughout the series.

Among the 22 events will be 10 special tournaments deemed Mini UBOC events. These are much cheaper UBOC events developed to mirror the more expensive versions, but with only 10% of the buy-in. Online poker players who don’t manage to win a seat in the UBOC, or those with a smaller bankroll, will find the Mini UBOC events to be both accommodating and highly lucrative.

Overall, the UltimateBet.com Online Championship will feature a diverse line-up of No Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, H.O.R.S.E. and other popular poker variants. The UBOC Main Event will take place on Saturday, January 18th, with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million.

Sunday is by far the biggest day for online pocker fans across all major online poker rooms; PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and of course, UltimateBetPoker. The UltimateBet online poker room held its largest weekly poker tournament Sunday, a $200k Guarantee, attracting a field of 873 eager participants.

Opting to post the buy-in of $200+$15, the crowd of players at UltimateBet.com’s Sunday $200k GTD cumulatively brought in $174,600 of the guaranteed $200k prize pool, resulting in an overlay that left the online poker room to fork over the remaining $25,400.

The action got underway at it wasn’t long before the field decreased by half, then another half, until finally 10 players remained. The final table was packed with action as the competitors strove to outlast them all, vying for the top prize.

One by one, the final table faded until the ousting of “widebody” brought up heads-up play between American “irishgirl08” and Frenchman “yellowhat”. Both displayed an enormous level of skill throughout the online poker tournament, but in the end, only one could prevail.

Gabriel “yellowhat” Nassif was eliminated in 2nd place, pocketing $26,000 for is extraneous efforts, as “irishgirl08” emerged victorious. 32 year old Sheila of Northbrook, Illinois – known by her UltimateBet.net friends (and foes) as “irishgirl08”, took home the largest paycheck of the day for an immaculate 1st place finish, $45,000.

UltimateBet Sunday $200k GTD Final Table Results

UltimateBetPoker announced Monday the release of the 2009 UBOC (UltimateBetPoker.com Online Championship) poker series schedule, including satellite competitions awarding seats in the 2009 UBOC Main Event.

In its 3rd installment, next year’s UBOC Series will feature a 22-event schedule including two $1 million guaranteed prize pools, and more than $3 million in overall prize money. From January 9-18, 2009, UltimateBet will host the online poker championship, with satellites having already started Monday, September 15th.

Ten of the twenty-two events are scheduled as “UBOC Mini-Series” tournaments, designed to parallel all regular UBOC events, with the exception of the two $1m GTDs. Mini-Series UBOC events will feature a 1/10th buy-in of the actual event it is set to mirror, with a 1/10th prize pool up for grabs. This gives everyone at UltimateBetPoker, regardless of bankroll size and experience, an equal chance at profiteering from the extraordinary online poker series.

“This is unbelievably massive,” commented UltimateBetPoker’s cardroom consultant, Annie Duke. “In keeping with our commitment to delivering more of what online poker players demand, we’re raising the stakes in our 3rd UBOC series by throwing over $3 million in guarantees into the mix.”

Though UBOC-2 was not nearly as large as the upcoming 3rd installment, Maria Nuccia felt no disappointment when she took down the UBOC-2 Main Event for a heavenly 1st place prize of $168,450.

Daily satellites to UBOC-3 start as low as $3 + $.30. Visit UltiamteBetPoker.com for a complete schedule of 2009 UBOC-3 events and ongoing satellites with seats in UltimateBetPoker’s massive online poker series up for grabs.

If you are not yet ready to try the real money satellite events, you can practice for free at UltimateBetPoker.net!

Ultimate Bet Awards Bad Beat Jackpot To ‘dhc2lovr’, Again!?

Visit Ultimate Bet

Visit Ultimate Bet

On Tuesday, March 25, online poker player ‘dhc2lover’ claimed a whopping $171,498.31 for releasing the Bad Beat Jackpot at popular online poker room, UltimateBetPoker. Just one and a half months later, ‘dhc2lovr’ is making headlines again, having won yet another UltimateBetPoker.com Bad Beat Jackpot for nearly half a million dollars – $448,920.71 to be exact.

While it would seem a healthy round of applause and congratulations are certainly in order for this unlucky/lucky poker player, that is not the predominant attitude emanating around the virtual water cooler.

It wasn’t that long ago that Ultimate Bet’s sister-site, Absolute Poker, was involved in a tremendous scandal where it was found that high-up officials were involved in cheating. Absolute Poker’s name was dragged about the mud for quite some time, as members of the online poker room were mortified and extremely perturbed at the corruption at underhanded dealings within the online poker room. Even today, Absolute Poker – though it has time and again assured its members that the issue was resolved, resulting in the resumed security and integrity Absolute Poker once stood for – is still recovering from a great loss of loyalty and memberships.

Being so closely related in cooperation with Absolute Poker, it is now being speculated that Ultimate Bet is also involved in such underhanded dealings. The popular consensus is, ‘How could the same person win two Bad Beat Jackpots in only a month and a half? What are the odds?’

Perhaps ‘dhc2lovr’s run of bad luck truly is a lucky phenomenon, but it would seem most online poker players will not feel entirely comfortable without a thorough investigation into the matter.
