Bodog Poker Review
BodogPoker had run a hugely successful sportsbook for almost ten years before they added poker in 2004. Naturally, their poker room has followed suit and become one of the best places to play online. 2006 World Series Main Event champion Jamie Gold qualified for his seat on BodogPoker.com, and is the new face of Team Bodog, joining David Williams, Josh Arieh and Evelyn Ng. As a major player in online poker, Bodog offers satellite tournaments to many major live events like the WPT and the WSOP, as well as running more satellites than you can count to their own online tournaments.
While the poker software lacks some features that most of the larger sites have (Bodog does not have a player search feature or resizeable tables), it has the necessities: player notes, statistics, instant han histories, different background options, and the ability to turn avatars on and off.
The Bodog poker client also features a “Quick Seat” lobby that allows players to be seated at the first open table found of the game and stakes they choose. This option can be turned off for players who prefer to browse for a table the traditional way. What Bodog is missing in terms of perfect software, though, it makes up for with some incredibly good games. Take a poll of where the wildest but softest games online can be found, and you will hear “Bodog” again and again.
Another big draw for BodogLive is their tournament schedule, which features a weekly $100,000 guarantee and other daily guarantees up to $30,000– and they usually come with a large overlay, giving players a great value, especially if they won their seat through a satellite.
Satellites for the $100,000 guarantee begin as low as $1 and run throughout the day. There are other multi-table satellites for specific daily guarantees as well, and Bodog has its own tournament dollar system (T$) that allows players to buy in to the tournament of their choice with T$ won in special sit and goes. Bodog also offers satellites to WPT and WSOP events that start as low as $1.50. For the 2006 WSOP, Bodog guaranteed it would give away at least 400 seats to the Main Event through satellites, and they did just that, even though it once again meant covering some giant overlays for players. All in all, you will not find a better bang for your satellite buck than at Bodog.
